    Shayma Saadat is a Pakistani-Afghan-Iranian published food writer and photographer. Born in Lahore, Pakistan, this “World Bank-baby” grew up in Pakistan, the USA, Nigeria, Kenya, Bangladesh and the UK. Four years ago, in her true nomadic style, Shayma moved from Rome, Italy, where she worked for the United Nations, to Toronto, Canada.

    As a Cambridge-trained economist, Shayma loves her job as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Ministry of Energy, but her passion lies in the world of food. As the author of the award-winning blog ‘The Spice Spoon’, Shayma uses evocative prose to share recipes from her childhood and portray the beautiful aspects of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran.

    ‘The Spice Spoon’ was selected by The Independent newspaper, UK, as one of the world’s 50 Best Food Websites. Shayma’s published work can be found in BBC’s Good Food Magazine and Edible Toronto.

    Even though home will always be Lahore for Shayma, she calls Toronto her new home – where she lives with her husband and six-month-old son. Shayma is currently working on her first book and will soon be seen in Toronto hosting supperclubs and workshops.
